Elders

Providence Baptist Church is grateful to be served by four pastors; you can learn a bit about each of them below.

Steven

Steven

Elder

Steve was born and raised in a believing family in Akron, Ohio. His parents faithfully taught him about Jesus from a young age, and he became a follower of Jesus Christ as a teenager before moving to Louisville to attend college.

While in college in Kentucky, he met his wife, Ashley, and they were married in 2010. After serving in various pastoral roles in Kentucky, Maryland and Michigan, Steve and his family moved to New Albany. He now serves Providence as a lay elder while working as a financial analyst in Louisville. Steve and Ashley live just outside of New Albany with their 4 children.

Nathan

Nathan

Elder

Nate was born and raised in a believing family in Louisville, Kentucky. He placed his faith in the saving work of Jesus as a child and became a follower of Jesus at an early age. Although for several years in high school and college Nate departed the faith, by the time he graduated college, he had come to understand his need to keep Jesus at the center of his life.

While in college in Florida, Nate met his wife, Amber, and they were married in 2006. After serving in different pastoral roles in Florida and Kentucky, Nate moved with Amber and their 4 children to the Uptown Neighborhood of New Albany in spring of 2020 so that he could serve as an elder at Providence.

Jesse

Jesse

Elder

Jesse and his wife Emily both grew up in the Louisville/New Albany area, where Jesse graduated from New Albany High School and Indiana University. He grew up going to church with his family in Lousiville where he heard about God and His Son, Jesus, from a very early age. However, Jesse did not commit his life to Christ until 2013, when he was discipled by the pastors at Auburndale Baptist Church in Louisville, put his faith in Jesus, and was baptized that fall.

Jesse and Emily married in 2014 and have lived in Benton, KY; Tulsa, OK; and now New Albany, IN, with their three children. Jesse serves as a lay elder at Providence alongside his career in IT.

Garrett

Garrett

Elder

Garrett was born and raised in a believing family in Erie, Pennsylvania. His family faithfully attended a Bible-believing church, and he became a follower of Jesus at a young age. When he was in high school, his family moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where the Lord used faithful, godly men to deepen his knowledge of and love for Jesus.

After attending college in South Carolina, Garrett met his wife Jessica, and they were married in 2018. After serving in a pastoral internship program, Garrett moved to New Albany with his family in 2020 to join in the work of planting Providence. Garrett now serves as a lay elder at Providence while working as the co-founder of a local marketing company.

Curious What We Believe?

ABOUT THE SCRIPTURES

We believe in the Holy Scriptures, accepting fully the writings of the Old and New Testaments as the very Word of God, given by verbal inspiration and preserved in all parts unto all generations, an infallible and authoritative rule of faith and practice.

ABOUT GOD

We believe that there is one living and true God, an infinite, perfect, and personal Spirit, the Creator and Ruler of the Universe, Who is worthy of all possible honor, confidence, and love; and that in the unity of the Godhead, eternally existent, there are three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ and in His Virgin Birth, where He freely took upon Himself human nature, yet without sin; that He honored the Divine law by His perfect obedience and shed His blood for atonement for our sins; we believe in His bodily resurrection and His bodily ascension into Heaven to be our Intercessor.

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts of sin and makes believers children of God through the new birth, assuring them of Heaven; by His indwelling, He enables Christians to live godly lives and that the baptism of the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ happens at the moment of salvation.

ABOUT HUMANS

We believe that man was created by the special act of God in a state of holiness, under the law of his Maker, but through the temptation of Satan, he voluntarily transgressed and fell from this holy state, in consequence of which all men are by nature and choice sinful and lost.

ABOUT SALVATION

We believe in salvation by grace through faith, through Jesus Christ; that salvation is the free gift of God, not by any virtue of works of men but received only by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; that the blessings of salvation are made free to all by the Gospel; that it is the immediate duty of all to accept salvation by faith; and that nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner on earth but his own sinfulness; that all true believers possess the gift of eternal life and the divine guarantee that they shall never perish.

ABOUT SPIRITUAL GROWTH

We believe that, according to the will of God, believers are made partakers of God’s holiness in a progressive work that is begun in regeneration and is carried on throughout their earthly life by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit working through the Word of God to bring repentance and deeper faith.

ABOUT THE FUTURE

We believe that only those justified by faith in the name of the Lord Jesus are truly righteous in God’s sight; that those who continue in unbelief are wicked and under the curse of eternal death; and that eternity holds everlasting conscious punishment of the wicked in Hell and the everlasting conscious blessedness of the saints in Heaven.
